The Digital Nomad law introduced by by former President Carlos Alvarado last year was signed into law this week by President Rodrigo Chaves.

International virtual workers, popularly referred to as Digital Nomads, will now be able to apply for a special visa that allows them to stay in Costa Rica for up to one year, rather than the 90 day limit provided by tourist visas.

This is expect to bring an addition $600 million a year into the Costa Rican economy.
