Luxury brand Six Senses plans to open a new resort in Guanacaste, its first in Central America.

Originally started by Indo-British entrepreneur Sonu Shivdasani, Six Senses was acquired by InterContinental Hotels Group earlier this year. IHG recently announced plans for two new resorts, one in Iceland and the other on Guanacaste’s Papagayo peninsula.

Like the brand’s other properties, Six Senses Papagayo will emphasize wellness and sustainability when it opens in 2021. Designed by London-based architect John Heah, it will be located 40 minutes from Liberia International Airport, which offers daily flights to and from just about every major metropolitan hub in the United States, as well as Canada and Latin American countries.

According to the Six Senses announcement, “[Six Senses Papagayo] stretches from the highest point and 360-degree panorama of the Guanacaste archipelago to a forested beachfront dotted with 41 secluded and generously-sized pool villas. There are also 31 one-of-a-kind residences available for sale to owners interested in an exciting investment opportunity along with full access to a unique resort-life experience.”
