Do Costa Ricans need to worry about super-spreader crowds at our beaches?

“There were no outbreaks linked to public beaches. There’s never been a Covid-19 outbreak linked to a beach, ever, anywhere in the world, to the best of my knowledge,” says Professor Mark Woolhouse, an epidemiologist at Edinburgh University.

In a recent Guardian article, Archie Bland explains why the outrage over supposedly COVID-spreading crowds at a Bournemouth beach last summer was based on fear, not facts. In reality, shaming people off of beaches may have created more COVID cases than if beachgoers had been left alone.
